Stories That Move
The online toolbox about diversity and discrimination
How to use Stories that Move?
Autumn 2017: Two-day professional development seminars throughout Europe
Stories that Move is an effective tool to address the complex issues of racism, antisemitism, antigypsyism and other forms of discrimination. It aims to create awareness and dialogue about the topics of diversity and discrimination. Our Stories that Move professional development seminars help you explore where the past meets the present, as you gain knowledge and learn strategies to enrich your classroom interactions using the online toolbox Stories that Move.
Diversity can refer to social class, gender, sexual orientation, religion, immigration status or age, to name but a few groupings. The blend strongly influences people’s lives and experiences, and we are all dealing with it in one way or another. The ability to work effectively — and sensitively — across cultural contexts is of great importance nowadays. It requires communicating and connecting respectfully with others regardless of their differences, both inside and outside our classrooms.
Key challenges for educators
Diversity and discrimination do not only affect learners but educators as well. So how do we build understanding and awareness?
The seminar will cover these topics extensively. Each of the workshops will focus on a learning path and the specific methods used. You will discover innovative ways to introduce the complexities of different forms of discrimination. Experiences from other educators who already use Stories that Move in their classes, will offer useful insights.
